ML-UPD Vsn 1.2 - 07/26/87 - Copyright (c) 1987 by Chris Irwin
-------------------------------------------------------------
This program is for Fido/Opus Sysops only. All others will find
it of NO value. You MUST have a tru compatable to run this software.
WARNING: Read instructions carefully. This program creates
a network mail file-attach message. In some cases,
this will result in a LONG-DISTANCE bill. Please
don't say that I didn't warn you.
--- What is the MegaList?
The "MegaList" is a composite file listing of all participating
systems. If you wish to be a part of the MegaList, all you must
do is configure and run the ML-UPD program. To remain in the
national MegaList, you must send an update file to 135/68 AT LEAST
every 45 days, or you will be removed.
--- What does it look like? (where do I get it?)
The MegaList is a text file that lists information about all the
systems participating, then the composite file listing in
alphabetical order. To get a copy of the latest MegaList, you
can SEAdog file-request it from 135/68 or download it directly
at (305) 232-9365. File name : MEGALIST.ARC (or MEGALIST.TXT)
--- What does ML-UPD actually do?
1) Creates an update file based on your NET and NODE number.
ie. 00870044.MLU is the MegaList update for 135/68.
2) Fills the update file with your system information and all
files listed in your FILES.BBS files.
3) Trys to ARC the update to xxxxyyyy.MLA; first PKARC, then
ARC.
4) Creates a NETWORK file-attach message with the update file.
--- What do I do first?
1) Install ML-UPD in your Fido or Opus ROOT DIRECTORY.
2) Type: ML-UPD CONFIG
3) A screen will appear requiring you to describe your system.
Comlete the screen, and answer 'YES' to 'Are you sure?'
4) Type: ML-UPD SEND
5) Allow a few minutes (depending on your file volume.)
6) That's all you need to do; at this point:
a) You should have a Network mail message going to 135/68
b) You should either have a .UPD or .UPA file.
(UPD - Update file/text format)
(UPA - ARChive of UPD file)

-------------------------------------------------------------
The following commands are currently supported:
ML-UPD CONFIG This command allows you to set-up
and maintain the configuration
for your system: System name,
phone number, max baud rate, etc.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that you
don't change your password after
the first update is sent. This is
your protection against hackers
changing your MegaList entries.
ML-UPD SEND [TO net/node] [-X area#, area#...area#]
This creates and sends a MegaList
update file to the specified node.
If no destination is specified,
the update will go to the national
MegaList in Miami. (135/68)
The -X option may be used to
exclude certain file areas.
ML-UPD SEND HERE [-X area#, area#...area#]
This creates and MegaList update file
that will be used locally. It is
automatically created in the directory
\megalist. This option is ONLY useful
for Sysops who make their own MegaLists
with ML-COL. The -X option may be used to
exclude certain file areas.
If you have ARC.EXE or PKARC.COM in the default path, then
the update files will be automatically ARCed before sending.
If you wish to get the latest version of the MegaList, you
may either download it manually or get it using SEAdog file
requests. The following filenames are always current data:
MEGALIST.TXT - National MegaList consolidated file listing
MEGALIST.ARC - ARC of above
MEGA-ARC.TXT - National MegaList ARC file listing
MEGA-ARC.ARC - ARC of above
ML-UPD.ARC - Latest release of THIS program
ML-COL.ARC - Latest release of Collection Software - Everything
you need to make your own MegaLists.
